Brace yourselves! There is about to be an abundance of tulips on your screen.
Each year, hundreds flock to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival here in Washington. Last year was the first year I had been since I was young, and it was absolute chaos. We got there in the middle of the afternoon and sat in a lineup nearly six miles long before actually making our way into the parking lot and then walking in a herd of people towards the entrance of the fields.
This year we were smart. The fields are about an hour north of Seattle, and we left early enough so we could arrive just as the fields were opening. It was a much more pleasant experience this time around and I would highly recommend doing it this way if you can.
There are various places in Mount Vernon to visit tulip fields. My favorite location is at the RoozenGaarde farm. They have a beautiful display garden that features several different and unique varieties of tulips, and then of course colorful fields of classic purple, red, white and yellow tulips.
Viva la Brunch! Graphic tees are a bit of a staple item in my closet, they're such a fun way to add a bit of personality to your look.
Thanks to this guy for making the trek up with me! He had just arrived from a two week long trip to Amsterdam the day before, and as jet-lagged as he was, made sure that we went to the tulip fields. We were super lucky because the day after we visited, the tulip fields were cut down for the season!
Bringing Bouquet Home
Parrot tulips are possibly one of my favorite varieties of tulips. Of course I had to bring a bunch home from the fields and they lasted a few weeks on the bar cart! Did you know tulips can go without water for several hours at a time? This makes them super easy to transport home and stop for a bite to eat on the way!
