Byredo Arrives at Nordstrom in Seattle

Happy Friday, loves! I'm so excited to share the news that one of my favorite brands, Byredo, is now available at Nordstrom in downtown Seattle! I've been waiting for this day for so long! To celebrate the occasion, I'm going to share with you a few of my favorite things this brand has to offer. Full disclosure, I'm a little biased.

I discovered Byredo a few years ago and instantly fell in love with their minimalistic approach to packaging and their clean, fresh branding. Earlier this year while I was on a vacation in Vancouver, B.C. I made a special detour just to smell their line and purchase my first fragrance, Mojave Ghost! It was unlike anything I'd ever experienced before, thus the beginning of an obsession.

Byredo's candles and perfumes are developed with an understated approach, using a simple composition of the highest quality raw materials. The brand was founded in 2006 by Ben Gorham after traveling to his mother's hometown in India, where he was stirred by the aromas of spices and incense.

Each scent is so unique, telling the story of a moment in time. Several layers of fragrance notes captures so many emotions at once. Velvet Haze is the latest fragrance in the line, and I was immediately hooked. Ambrette and coconut water are the first two notes that really set off this scent, but there are so many others mixed in.

Fragrance story as described by Byredo:

The Velvet Haze is that daze state that carries us to artificial paradises, that ardent moment where eternity seems finally regained. The opulence of the scent embarks you in a psychedelic whirlpool reminiscent of the hypnotic beauty of a bonfire. Along this exhilarating path, the sweetness of coconut water soon gives way to the feverish power of patchouli leaves. The air is dry and the atmosphere is lazy. An experience of all sense that the velvety cacao and the wild musk enrich with their earthy envelope.

Notes:

  • Top: Ambrette, coconut water.
  • Middle: Patchouli leaves.
  • Base: Cocoa absolu, cotton musks, wild musk.

It's a true capture of the autumn season.

Byredo's candles are also quite stunning – I love the dramatic black wax and simple white branding just like their personal fragrances have. Bibliotheque has a warm, velvety quality that's embodied in a touch of peach, plum, vanilla with patchouli at the heart. It's the perfect candle for the bedroom...all the cozy vibes.

My bathroom got a total upgrade too with the addition of Suede hand wash, lotion and cream. It's an approachable fragrance that is sure to impress your house guests (unless you hide it and keep it all for yourself, that is). The light, woody scent opens with notes of pear, bergamot and fresh aldehydes. There's also a Rose line that I'm totally eyeing.
