Decking the Halls with Overstock
What’s the one place in your home, besides the tree, that’s always decked to the nines for the holiday season? If you said the fireplace mantle, you are my kind of person. Overstock provided me with this beautiful White Marble Electric Fireplace for my living room and I couldn't wait to decorate it for the holiday season!
A fireplace mantle is something that I've really missed decorating for Christmas since moving into a little apartment in Seattle. When you live in a rental, it's not always easy to get everything you wish for in a place! My biggest sacrifice was definitely a fireplace. No matter now, though! This freestanding electric fireplace is the answer to my dreams!
I love the clean, crisp white wood and faux marble accents on this fireplace. It's just my style and such a wonderful statement piece in our living room! This baby provides the extra heat we need for the long winter months and the proper cozy ambiance in the evening. Plus, the flames look so real! It's nice knowing that if I ever get bored with it on this wall, I can easily slide it over to another one and create a whole new living room layout! I've also thought about placing it in the bedroom, too. Oh, the possibilities!
Like everything else in our home, black, white and grey dominate. I was so pleased when our landlord allowed us to paint a grey accent wall in preparation for the fireplace. It provided the proper contrast. Now, let's talk decorations!
I wanted to use a minimalistic approach when decorating the mantle. The right combination of items in varying heights makes for the perfect amount of impact! Fresh cedar garland from The Bouqs Co. was a must. I let it drape over the sides for a little added drama, but you could also just lay it across the top of the mantle, too. I've been spritzing it with water every few days in hopes of keeping it fresh all month long! I then wrapped over 60 feet of dew drop lights within the garland, and now it simply sparkles from every angle! The copper wire provides a nice amount of shine without taking away from the beauty of the greenery. To top it off I scattered a few gold ornaments throughout. Bam, gold-gilded garland perfection!
The only items I placed on the mantle were simple, gold tapered candlesticks and a few prints in sleek black frames. They both bring a good amount of height to the setup, plus I love me some candlelight glow! I simply adore these prints from Lily & Val. I paired two in varying sizes that compliment each other nicely. The larger has script that is lovely itself, but the quote from the Polar Express tugs at my heartstrings and reminds me of many childhood years spent decorating the tree while watching the movie. The smaller brings a little of the outdoors in with a beautiful woodland tree. Don't forget your stockings hung with care! The look is completed with a fresh holiday wreath from The Bouqs Co.; hung above the scene and wrapped in dew drop lights!
This holiday season, you'll find me with a mug of hot cocoa hangin' out in front of the fireplace! Nothing compares to the ease of use for this thing. Everything is controlled with the touch of a button. I can set it on a timer, adjust the temperature of the heat, or turn it off completely and just have the flames for effect. No messy embers, no smokey residue, just warm & cozy ambiance. When it's time for bed, simply hit the button on the remote, and say "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night"!
