A Modern Day Centerpiece: Himmeli Kits

A Modern Day Centerpiece: Himmeli Kits

The weeks leading up to Christmas are always a flurry! No, I'm not hoping for snow quite yet! There have actually been quite a few beautiful, sunshine-filled days here in Seattle. I started decorating the house last weekend, going room to room, making sure every area is sprinkled with holiday cheer.

One spot that always welcomes seasonal decor is the coffee table. We're always gathered around it in the living room, hanging out on the couch, whether it be just the two of us or with friends. I swap out items almost monthly because I like to keep it fresh! It's nice to always have something new to look at.

This holiday season I wanted to style something that would compliment the fireplace decor nicely; something super modern and minimalistic. When I came across Himmeli Kits on Etsy, I knew I had found something special.  Kristine, owner of Himmeli Kits, is so incredibly kind and helped me select a beautiful geometric wreath that works perfectly for the size of my coffee table. She's got several different options and sizes for wreaths, ornaments, and table toppers. She even sells kits to make your own wreath, for all of those avid do-it-yourselfers out there.

I went back and fourth between the copper and brass options, but in the end decided that the brass worked better with what the decor I already had on the fireplace! I didn't want to go over the top with dressing up the geometric design, so I opted for a simple, fresh sprig of seeded eucalyptus I picked up at Trader Joe's. I carefully wove it between the wiring which gives an unexpected, organic quality to the symmetrical, rigid design – I love the contrast. I finished the display with candles (as if there were anything else!) arranged in varying sizes around the wreath and one placed in the middle.

If you're looking for something extra special to decorate your table this holiday season (or perhaps your wall), try going non-traditional and using a geometric wreath! You can still bring in some fresh foliage while staying modern. The possibilities are endless, and this wreath will last long after the holidays are gone! Special thanks to Himmeli Kits for providing me with this beautiful centerpiece. You'll see more of them on the blog soon when I reveal my freshly-decorated tree!
