Saturday Skin – Long Live the Weekend
As I've rounded the corner into my late twenties (gasp), I've started to become more conscientious of my skincare routine. The older you get, the more gentle you start to be with you skin. You realize all of those cheap products really are just that, cheap. Investing in your skin is important, people! You're going to have it for a while! I first discovered Saturday Skin while scrolling through my Instagram feed looking at dreamy skincare lineups in gorgeous editorial shots. Of course, being a designer, I was instantly drawn to the perfectly light pink packaging - simple, clean, and insanely chic. After a little added research on the brand, I fell in love with them the more I read.
Saturday Skin's philosophy is simple: Your skin should feel as good as you do when you wake up refreshed: happy, healthy and bright. Basically, treat your skin like it's one long Saturday. Who doesn't want that? This line really does feel like the weekend in a bottle. "Like the perfect Saturday, time slows down and your face lights up," reads their site.
This skincare line is what you get when nature and science collide. All of their products boast an impressive list of ingredients that don't include all those yucky things like parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrance, or synthetic color. In short, rest assured that you're putting goodness on your face.
All those with sensitive skin raise your hand! Trying anything new on your face is always a little scary when you don't know how it's going to effect you. I have really sensitive skin, so I'm always hesitant to try anything new. I started incorporating a few Saturday Skin products into my daily routine, and so far, so good! My skin also feels smoother and softer, with a little added glow about it.
I started spritzing on some Daily Dew Hydrating Essence Mist in the morning after cleansing. This product acts as an essence and toner in one, so it gets bonus points for the amount of time I save! It's a quick little boost of moisture. You could also use it to freshen up your makeup in the middle of the day.
Saturday Skin's Featherweight Daily Moisturizing Cream is another product I'm quite fond of. This product really lives up to its name. It is extremely light and quickly absorbs into my skin so I'm not sitting around waiting to start applying my makeup. I LOVE that the cream is dispersed via pump, keeping it bacteria-free. If you don't know about the potential danger of bacteria breeding in your makeup, read Into The Gloss' article on it. Seriously. You might think twice about sampling skincare products in a store again.
Once my face is prepped and primed, I'm ready for foundation. Saturday Skin just released their new All Aglow Perfecting Cushion Compact, and it's honestly the best. For most of my teenage years and into my early twenties I suffered from cystic acne, and as a result, I have a very uneven skin tone and texture on my face. This compact is like a magic eraser, hiding my flaws. Plus, it's got a whopping 50 SPF! It's not thick or greasy, so I don't feel like I'm wearing a pound of makeup. I'm currently using the shade Vanilla until I get some much-needed sunshine! Speaking of, isn't winter over yet?
If you haven't tried masking, um, jump on the bandwagon already! Masking is one of my favorite evening actives. I typically try and use a face mask at least twice a week. It's a time when I can unwind from the day, grab a glass of wine and treat my skin to some added hydration. Saturday Skin has two different sheet masks to choose from, both with some great benefits. I'm a fan of the Quench Intense Hydration Mask, which acts like a cool drink of water for the skin. 20 minutes later, you feel like you've just had a facial.
Huge thanks to Saturday Skin for teaming up with me to create this post! I'm now hooked on their pretty pink-bottled products and proudly display them on my vanity tray. Like many things in life, everyone's skin is unique. Not every single product is going to work the same way for everyone. So tell me, have you tried Saturday Skin? How did it work for you?
