A Refocus on Florals
Hello, friends. I can't believe how long it's been since I sat down to write a blog post. I've thought about it more times than I can count, but my heart just wasn't in it. Throughout the past two years of this blog's existence, I've changed courses on its focus and point of view. That's just how it goes with us creative types – one minute you're super passionate about something and the next you might think it's the dumbest idea ever. I always knew this blog would evolve, and after taking some time to step away from blogging, I'm feeling refreshed and ready to refocus on what matters to me the most.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that this blog will always have a special place in my heart, but up until a few months ago, it was starting to consume my life. Social media, in general, consumes a lot of us. We're constantly comparing ourselves to others and feeling like we've never done enough. Not only that, but all that time we spend lost in the internet, we're missing out on being present in our own lives. I realized I was blogging for the sake of others instead of for my own enjoyment. I'm making a conscious effort to change that.
With that said, I want to get back to focusing on florals here on Pike Petals. I'll always blog about the things I love, but above all, flowers are why I started this blog. What better time to have a refresh than spring, right?
Enough of the heavy, let's talk about these flowers. I picked up this pre-made bouquet at Metropolitan Market. It's way too fun to wander their floral selection in front of the store. Although slightly spendy, all of their flowers are such high quality and last quite a long time! I love the combination of peonies and ranunculus that really make this bouquet. Pops of blue in this gathering are echoed in my dress, a subtle connection I adore.
I purchased this dress at J. Crew during their 40% off sale a few weeks ago, and I couldn't be happier with the splurge. It wasn't until halfway through the night while wearing it that I realized it has pockets! Who doesn't like a dress with pockets?! The dainty floral pattern and tie-front give it a fun retro feel, while the slight fit-and-flare structure is super feminine.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and spend some time with those who matter most! Life moves so fast, make sure to enjoy it!
