The First Signs of Spring

Last weekend Adam and I braved the freezing temperatures and strolled down to the market to discover that tulips have finally arrived! It seems the sunshine brought everyone in Seattle outside, and between that and the fresh cut flowers, I nearly forgot that it is still indeed January. The wind chill quickly reminded me though...

This. Pink. FLORAL. Wall. I can't believe I hadn't discovered it sooner - it's just below the market, and is basically what dreams are made of.  The mural, titled Room for Change, is by Carolina Silva and was part of the Seattle Design Festival last September. It's so great to see art like this taking shape in Seattle. It gives some much needed life to what was once a drab concrete wall.

I love this little tote by Rebecca Minkoff! The style comes in a multitude of colors, and I'd had my eye on it for quite some time. When this floral pattern was released, I knew I had to jump on it. It's one of the only bags that I have with a pattern, but I think it works well due to it's size and the scale of design. It's perfect for day trips, coffee dates, and grocery runs. The shoulder strap keeps things hands-free and it's got just the right amount of space for the essentials!

The bouquet I chose is a smattering of colors.  Reds, oranges, pinks and purples all play harmoniously in this large grouping with a few white blooms tossed in for good measure. The confetti of colors certainly works well against the hot pink wall and adds some cheerfulness to my mood! I love that tulips can last for several hours without water, I never feel guilty wandering the market a little longer after I pick them up.

Bringing Bouquet Home

I didn't realize how large this bouquet was until I got it home and started to place the flowers in a vase! As a solution, I separated them up into two groupings and placed them in vases with staggering heights. We just finished our black and white gallery wall in our living room and these blooms add a nice punch of color to the monochromatic space.

I hope these colorful blooms add some happiness to your Friday! January is always the time of year I start to get restless and the cabin fever sets in. These flowers certainly remind me that spring will be here in the blink of an eye!
