Roses are Red...

"I'd rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck." – Emma Goldman

Valentine's Day is most certainly up there with my favorite holidays. The roses, the chocolates, the romance of it all; every small moment that makes this holiday special. I love the noise the cellophane wrapper makes as you tear it away from the heart-shaped box of chocolates. I'm always extra smitten on the day, wearing red and taking every chance I can to do something especially cheesy. When I was younger my mom used to dye our milk pink and make us heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast. I'm a huge fan of surprises, so I loved giving out Valentine's Day cards in elementary school, and val-o-grams in middle school and high-school. It was such a wonderful feeling to see the look on my friend's face when they received my gift. I think I'm a bit nostalgic each year, but always searching for new ways to show those dear to me how much I love them.

It's no mystery that I love wine. I love to go wine tasting, I love to watch wine documentaries, I love to learn the history behind each bottle. Rocking this tee from Rollick, a Seattle-based clothing brand, was a no-brainer. Not only is the subject on-par, but the pun is on-point. This tee is also extremely soft and ready for any outing. Have a scroll through their site, you'll find yourself smiling when reading the clothing names! I've paired the tee with a cozy cardigan from LOFT and some perfectly distressed denim. To make the look a bit more Valentine's Day appropriate, I've worn my favorite pair of red heels by Enzo Angiolini. The back zippers on these babies go all the way to the bottom of the heel. Talk about a little added drama.

You can't have Valentine's Day without roses (guys, take note). Classic red ones, in this case, are the epitome of romance. Did you know that a single red rose shows love, a dozen show gratitude, twenty-five show congratulations and fifty show unconditional love? The shade of the red has a meaning as well. Bright red means love, burgundy means unconscious love, and dark crimson is used to show mourning. Red is always the go-to pop of color in my rather monochromatic wardrobe. I think I got that from my mom, we always wore red on special occasions or holidays growing up! It's definitely stuck with me, and I'm okay with that. My shoes, Essie "Hiking Heels" nail polish, Chanel "Arthur" lipstick and Rebecca Minkoff crossbody bring out the festive red color and complete my ensemble.

Unfortunately it started to rain in the middle of our shoot, but being a tried-and-true Pacific Northwesterner, I just embraced it! I think it adds to the overall drama of the look.

Out and About

I totally used this tee as an excuse to go wine tasting last weekend. I don't think Adam minded! One of our favorite places to go, rain or shine, is Novelty Hill Januik Winery in Woodinville, Washington. During the winter you can cozy up by their fireplace, and in the summer you can hang out on the patio and play some bocce ball! They have a wonderful selection of wines and their pizzas are perfect for splitting.

Thanks so much to Rollick for providing the fabulous tee for this post! I certainly see many more wine tastings with it in my future. I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day filled with love and lots of wine. Cheers!
